Borri UPS
Why a UPS should be serviced
As purse strings are ever tightened the servicing of equipment can seem as a soft target for cuts, but delaying a service on a UPS can have dire consequences, the whole purpose of a UPS is to protect your Data Network from a catastrophic failure, should the UPS fail through lack of maintenance the damage done is massively disproportionate to the cost of an engineer’s service visit.
Often the rational for not having a UPS serviced is “it’s only a box of electronics, no moving parts, what can go wrong” , this reasoning is floored, all UPS are fitted a with a number of electro mechanical devices which must and should be regularly tested, this would include cooling fans, relays and switching.
The key to a through service is using only manufactures authorised engineers; this ensures that all software, mechanical, electrical and electronic upgrades are routinely installed thus greatly extending the life and reliability of the UPS.
